Redondo Beach · South Bay · Since 2024
Professional-grade photo scanning and media digitization — handled locally, with care, and never shipped away.
Those boxes of photos in the garage — the ones you mean to sort through “someday” — are quietly fading. Heat, humidity, and time work against them every year. South Bay Archival exists to stop that clock, getting your irreplaceable family memories into a safe digital format you can share, back up, and pass down.

Professional equipment
The same archival tools used by museums and preservation labs.

Personal care
Handled by a neighbor, not a call center. You can always reach me directly.
I handed Connor a shoebox of 340 photos from my parents’ trip to Japan in 1987. Three days later I had every single one on my phone, sharper than I’d ever seen them. My mom cried when I showed her. Worth every penny.

Frequently asked questions
I’m based in Redondo Beach. For most projects, you drop off and pick up your originals directly at my door. For orders over $125 within the primary service zone, I’ll come to you at no extra charge. Just reach out and we’ll sort out whatever works best.
Never. Everything is handled in-house at my home in Redondo Beach. Your originals are never shipped off to a warehouse or sent to a third party. This is one of the reasons people choose a local service over the big mail-in companies — you always know exactly where your photos are.
Most projects are completed within 5–7 business days from drop-off. Larger collections or projects with a mix of media types may take a little longer — I’ll always give you an honest estimate upfront before we start. Rush turnaround may be available; just ask.
300 dpi produces files that look great on screens, are easy to share via email or Google Photos, and take up less storage space. 600 dpi captures significantly more detail — ideal if you ever want to reprint photos, make enlargements, or do any restoration work down the line. When in doubt, go 600 dpi. You can always export a smaller version later, but you can’t add detail that wasn’t scanned.
All scans are delivered as high-quality JPEGs, which are universally compatible with every device, app, and photo service. If you need a different format (such as TIFF for professional archival use), just let me know and we can discuss.
Yes — album-bound photos fall under Premium Print Scanning and are handled individually by hand on a flatbed scanner, so nothing is bent, peeled, or damaged. If photos are in older magnetic or “sticky” albums, please mention this upfront so I can handle them with extra care.
I can handle loose prints up to 8×10 via batch scanning, and larger or more delicate items via flatbed. Accepted formats include standard prints, Polaroids, black-and-white photos, 35mm slides, and 35mm negatives. Not sure if your media qualifies? Just message me — if I can’t help, I’ll point you in the right direction.
There is a $50 minimum order value for all scanning projects. This covers most small-to-medium collections. If you’re unsure whether your project meets the minimum, send me a message with a rough count and I’ll let you know.
Payment is due upon pickup or delivery of your completed scans. I accept Zelle, cash, and personal check. You’ll receive a clear itemized summary of your project total before we finalize everything.
No problem at all — mixed projects are common. Each type of media is simply priced at its respective rate. For example, if you have 300 standard loose prints and a sleeve of 35mm slides, those would be quoted separately and combined into a single project total.
I treat every collection as if it were my own family’s. Your originals are stored securely and handled with the utmost care throughout the process. In the unlikely event of any issue, I will communicate with you immediately and work to make it right. This is exactly why I keep everything local — there’s no anonymous warehouse, no shipping risk, just a neighbor who takes this seriously.
Absolutely. Your images are never shared, posted, or used in any way without your explicit permission. All files are stored securely during the project and deleted from my systems once you’ve confirmed receipt of your digital files. Your family’s memories stay yours.
